Blizzard Of Oz became the third horse on the day to score for a father and son combination at Cork when taking the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Pro/Am) Auction INH Flat Race.
The previous family winners where the O’Dwyers, Conor and Charlie, with Battle It Out and the McNamaras, Eric and Conor, with Storm Mahler but this time it was the familiar winning combination in a bumper of Willie and Patrick Mullins.
The Arctic Cosmos gelding was placed on his previous three bumper starts and made no mistake here.
Patrick Mullins oozed confidence on the 5/4 favourite and the champion amateur hardly moved a muscle as the gelding came home three lengths clear of Any Road Backtonormal was a further seven lengths back in third.
Patrick Mullins said, “He had been very disappointing but Captain Cody (finished sixth at Cheltenham) is a better horse than we thought and I don't think we were hard enough on this fellow at home. Since he was beaten at Limerick we have been much harder on him and I think he is fitter.
"I think he is a good horse, he has the size to jump and loved that ground.
"I'm imagine he'll go for a winners' bumper and Aintree is a possibility, along with Punchestown."
