“Robbie (Colgan) said she was only getting going and hopefully there is lots more for her. I was really pleased how she finished out the race and didn’t fall apart," said Sheila Lavery after winning the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Roscommon with Sovereigns Bright
Sovereigns Bright (4/1) beat even money favourite Timemakesitfine by two and a quarter lengths.
The winner chased the leader, and she led after a furlong and a half.
Headed after three furlongs, the successful daughter of No Nay Never was second halfway.
The grey eventually then took over two furlongs out, and soon asked for more she kept on well under pressure from over a furlong out, asserting inside the last.
“She’s got a huge stride and is just back in off a break. She’d run well and had quite a good mark for having not won but she couldn’t find anything off the bridle and she fell apart," further explained Ms Lavery.
“I put her in the field and she had a break. I was a bit worried that it was going to be a bit soon as she’d only had one piece of work. I loved the way she did it and she was professional.
“Being a filly I’ll see if we can try and pick up some black type somewhere.”
