Rachael Blackmore extended her lead to five in the conditional riders’ title race when partnering Lachares to victory in the Follow Limerick Racecourse On Twitter Rated Novice Hurdle.
Blackmore is now on the 29 winner mark, five clear of Donagh Meyler, after the Ellmarie Holden-trained gelding followed up his win at Gowran Park earlier this month.
The Manduro four-year-old made full use of the weight he was receiving from older rivals when prominent throughout and taking command from two out.
The 7/2 chance stayed on strongly to beat Morgan by six and a half lengths, with Aint Dunne Yet another three and a half lengths adrift in third.
Miss Holden said, “He’s after improving a lot since his run in Gowran. This race looked wide open and I’ve no plans at the moment.
“We’ll have a look at the (programme) book and make a plan. He goes on that ground but could be a bit better on better ground.”
