Trainer John Oxx and jockey Declan McDonogh completed doubles at Gowran today when their Birds Of Prey landed the Join Us September 16th Handicap, half an hour after stablemate Upgraded won her maiden.
Birds Of Prey, a son of Sir Prancealot, won his own maiden on soft ground over today’s nine furlongs course on August 16 and had very similar conditions today, albeit the going was ‘heavy’, when beating runner-up Sister Blandina a length.
Oxx was represented by assistant Jimmy ‘Slim’ O’Neill who later stated “he's a grand horse and is very versatile ground wise. He'll probably go to the sales at some stage but he'll run again before that. He stays well and battles well."
