Bioluminescence is 8/1 from 16/1 for the Mrs Paddy Power Mares Chase at Cheltenham after impressing on her debut over fences in the Grade Two McMahons Builders Providers Irish EBF Dawn Run Mares Novice Chase.
Derek O'Connor clearly had confidence in the jumping of the former 'pointer' and he soon had her up there in Limerick's third event, to make use of that fencing ability for J P McManus and Gavin Cromwell.
McManus, on the mark with his home bred, Uhavemeinstitches (James Motherway) in the opener, will doubtless have been pleased by the manner in which 4/5 shot Bioluminescence comfortably disposed of Paggane and Shecouldbeanything by three lengths and six lengths.
“Her jumping is just unbelievable. She’s a big mare but a huge jump to match. I’d say a trip and soft jump will suit her," reported O'Connor.
“She was flawless in her point-to-point and thankfully Mr McManus bought her. Gavin has handled her exceptionally well winning a Grade 3 over hurdles and now a Grade 2 over fences.
“I saw her going around Tipperary two weeks ago over fences and it was beautiful to watch. I knew she was a good jumper from riding her but watched her that day from the ground and it was beautiful watch.
“It’s a fair step into a Grade 2 first run and she’s done very well.
“She is a ferocious galloper, and I think it will always be a case of going out in trip with her. The more of a test the better she will be.”
