Beyond Ambitious provided the father and son team of David and Ben Harvey with a deserved success in the concluding Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Flat Race at Wexford.
The daughter of Kalanisi filled the runner-up spot on two of her three previous bumper starts including behind The Model Kingdom in a Grade 3 at the Punchestown Festival last month.
The 15/8 chance struck the front entering the straight and kept on well to hold off 6/4 favourite Walk In The Brise by a length. Ballycashin could find no extra in the final furlong a further two and a half lengths back in third.
David Harvey said, “We thought she deserved that. We were surprised at her price the last day but it was a good race.
“We'll sit down now and see where we go with her, we had to get her win first.
“She's not too bad and she has a good temperament. She has her black-type early in her career. We'll take our time with her now, we're just glad to get the win.”
