The 2/1 favourite Betty Dutton was game under pressure when landing the Thomas A. Murray Bar Roscommon Mares Maiden Hurdle.
Touched off at Tramore last month and placed at Listowel last Monday, she kept responding for Darragh O'Keeffe in the home straight to fend off the persistent challenge of She's Tobias by a length and a half with the first two drawing well clear of the remainder.
Winning trainer Edward O'Grady said: “We’re delighted and I’m sure my son (Jonathan, owner) will be very grateful for the five grand bonus that goes with it (Weatherbys Ireland/ITBA NH Fillies Bonus Scheme).
“I don’t know if she will do a lot more over the winter but she will be a lovely mare in the spring.
“I’m breeding to race as opposed to breeding to top the sale. Frozen Fire is a Derby winner but he wouldn’t be the hottest thing in town."
