- Betrothed delivers on her promise
Betrothed delivers on her promise
Betrothed Tommy Stack’s experienced three-year-old filly in first-time blinkers, saw the trip out well in the one mile maiden at Naas to score under Wayne Lordan at odds of 5/1.
Assistant trainer Fozzy Stack commented: “The blinkers made a difference on her today. She disappointed a couple of times but the blinkers seemed to sharpen her up.
“She quickened up nicely. She will probably go for a little handicap next. She is in again on Thursday but it could be a bit quick to run her there.”
Unraced Ariyfa owned by the Aga Khan and trained by Michael Halford made eyecatching late progress under Gary Carroll to finish in second place, a length and three parts down at 25/1. Dreams And Desires was another horse on debut to show some ability as she raced home in third for Andrew Oliver at 7/1, a further length and a half away.
The well-touted unraced Solar Verde who is Group 3 entered, was heavily backed from 4/1 to 7/4 in the morning and 6/4 to 11/10 favouritism on course but she faded out of contention over a furlong out to finish 12th for Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen.
