Black Benny got a flyer just when he needed it to land the spoils in the handicap hurdle at Killarney.
Denis Hogan had produced his mount to challenge at the third last in the 2m6f contest but his mount was untidy there and the next. Headford Flyer who had led turning for home, looked set to maintain his advantage but Hogan saw a lovely stride at the last and Black Benny pinged the hurdle.
Shane Broderick's charge soon hit the front and stayed on well on the run-in to record a cosy two-length success at the line.
The Barry Connell-owned winner had attracted support this morning, from 10/1 into 4/1, and was eventually sent off a 6/1 shot on course.
"It's nice to get a winner," said Broderick afterwards.
"He was always travelling best but he didn't want to get there to soon. He would have been unlucky to have got beaten.
"He'll go to Galway for a three-mile 0-130 handicap hurdle. I'd like to thank Aidan Connolly who works with me and has put a lot of work into his jumping."
3/1 favourite Bondage failed to land a blow back in third.
