Youcantcallherthat looked thrown in for the mares' handicap hurdle at Wexford but she was worn down close home by 25/1 shot Beeper's Ruby
Youcantcallherthat was competing off a mark of 87 some 56lb lower than her chase rating which saw her sent off a very warm 4/6 favourite.
Punters began to reach for their dockets as she got to the front at the second-last.
She was in charge on the approach to the last, however, Beeper's Ruby hadn't gone away and was switched left jumping that flight in second.
On the run-in Beeper's Ruby found plenty for Conor Maxwell on the inside of Youcantcallherthat to get up in the closing stages by a neck.
The pair were three and a quarter lengths clear of third-placed The Last Armada (16/1) who made decent headway from the rear entering the straight.
Trainer Dermot McLoughlin said: "She ran well the time before last at Downpatrick. The last day the ground was too quick for her. She had a good run at Punchestown a year ago in a bumper where she finished sixth.
"She has ability but is inclined not to jump that well. Conor said she jumped well today and travelled.
"She just outstayed them more than anything, she kept going the best and picked up from the back of the last.
"She will probably go for another handicap hurdle. I'd say that is her ground today, we were probably running her on ground that didn't suit at times during the summer.
"Sean (Gallagher, owner) has four or five with me. Commander Won is a good flag bearer for him on the Flat and I had one for him yesterday that was third (Court Adjourned)."
The Stewards interviewed D.G. Hogan, rider of Youcantcallherthat, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that D.G. Hogan was in breach of regulation 10.4 in that he failed to give his mount time to respond. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended D.G. Hogan for one race day.
