Beauty ground worries down under
Profound Beauty is not certain to run in the Melbourne Cup as connections are concerned about the possibility of fast ground for the Flemington showpiece.
The Moyglare Stud-owned six-year-old turned in another impressive display in Satu day's Irish St Leger when finishing second behind fellow Melbourne Cup contender Sans Frontieres.
Stan Cosgrove, Moyglare Stud manager, said: "She's perfect afterwards and it was a grand performance on that ground, which was very testing.
"The Melbourne Cup is under consideration but we've not made a final decision.
"She has to go into quarantine on the 23rd (September) and Pat Smullen has already said he can ride her. The problem might be the ground. If it's rock hard it will be pointless running her as they don't water out there - that could be a big problem for her."
Profound Beauty, fifth in the Melbourne Cup two years ago, has been saddled with 54 kilograms for the November 2 feature - three kilos less than Sans Frontieres.
