The Ado McGuinness trained nine year old Beau Michael seems as though he has been around forever and landed his 14th career win (from 77 starts) in the opening Martinstown Opportunity Series Handicap Hurdle at Punchestown today.
Ridden by David Splaine, the son of Medicean led before the home turn before staying on well to defeat Hazariban and The Crafty Butcher
Afterwards McGuinness, who has had Beau Michael for 13 of his 14 wins, stated “his owners (the Total Recall Racing Club) are a great bunch of lads and he has been a great servant for them.
“I was a bit disappointed at Leopardstown the last day but the plan was always to come here. He'll keep mixing it with the Flat and may go back over fences and could go for the Glaway Plate this year. Some of the Premier Handicaps on the Flat could also be on his agenda.”
