Equipped with a first time tongue strap, Beart put in the best performance of his life to land the Dandelion Apprentice Handicap at Dundalk under David Parkes.

Jim Bolger 's home bred went off at 16/1 but that didn't stop him from getting to the front over a furlong out and keeping on well in the final furlong to beat Lord Kenmare by a length and a quarter.

Ger Flynn, represented Bolger, who no doubt enjoyed watching his former employee Tony McCoy ride his 2nd Gold Cup winner today.

Flynn said: "That's great for David. He's a good honest hard-working young lad. He's improved quite a bit.

"I'm sure the boss will bring this fellow back here for something again."

Parkes (20) hails from County Armagh, this was his second winner, having gotten off the mark aboard the Coolcullen runner Noimead Draiochta at Navan back in June. (AM & EM)
