Basil does it well for favourite backers
The well backed 3/1fav Red Basil put in an excellent display of jumping to land the Paulstown Handicap Chase for James Nash & David Casey.
The 10yo gelding by Mont Basile made virtually all and came home an easy six length victor from Waterville back in second with Lusiad a further neck back in third.
Winning trainer Nash stated after the race, ‘That was his last chance today. I always thought he was going to be a chaser and we put him back over hurdles as he was jumping fences so poorly'.
'He jumped great today though and that’s the way he had been jumping at home. We’ll find something for him now‘.
