Baroque Artist stayed on strongly under Mark Enright to land the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF(C&G) Maiden at Limerick.
The Fozzy Stack trained gelding showed a determined attitude to quicken between rivals and go away to win comfortably.
Fifth over a mile at Leopardstown on his debut last month, the son of Caravaggio clearly benefitted from that initial outing.
With the next three finishers all prominent in the pre-race betting, this could well have been a fair maiden. Schiele and Karakoul duelled for the early lead and looked to have the race between them turning for home but Enright stalked the pair on the eventual winner before challenging inside the final furlong.
Mark Enright said; "he ran very well in Leopardstown first time out and loved that ground. He was still a bit green and nearly fell over himself coming down the hill just looking at things. He had to be brave to go between the gap but went between it well.
"He is progressing, will be a nice horse and is in Fozzy's colours but I don't think we'll see him in his colours again. It was nice to get off the mark for the season."
