Barndeh finally gets there
On his thirtieth outing Barndeh made the breakthrough in the '4th August Ladies Day At Sligo' Handicap under Ben Curtis.
Backed from 9/1 into 6/1, the son of Marju led entering the straight and he went on to beat My Blue Heaven by a convincing three and a half lengths.
The seven-year-old has had numerous trainers and his current handler, Tom McCourt (outing number three for him) said: "It was too short for him the last day in Down Royal. He is prone to bursting blood-vessels but that will give him confidence.
"He is well-handicapped as he was rated 70 when he came over from England. He is handicapped over hurdles too."
One of his previous trainers, Ray McGlinchey was on hand to congratulate connections.
Well-backed favourite, Wee Giant could manage only fourth.
