Barna is Gold for his Sligo backers
Following on from Double Seven half-an-hour earlier, Listowel form again came to the fore as Barna Gold (9/2 into 11/4), fourth at the Harvest Festival, stepped-up to land a gamble under Barry Geraghty in the Corporate Entertainment At Sligo Maiden Hurdle.
Val O'Brien 's eight-year-old took over travelling well before the straight but he needed to be driven out on the run-in to see-off the pace-setting newcomer, Lacarmic by three parts of a length.
O'Brien said of Brid Collison's (from Birr) chestnut: "He likes a bit of a trip, anything up to three miles. He may go chasing now."
