Davy Fitzgerald recorded his first winner in nearly two years as his Bangonform took the Noel Cummins Bookmakers Handicap Hurdle under champion jockey Davy Russell.
Fitzgerald last tasted success when The Burrow Vic won a handicap chase for him at Sligo in September of 2010.
Bangonform, who is an 8yo son of Lord Americo, made headway into fourth four out before he hit the front at the second last and went on from there to record an easy thirteen length success at the odds of 8/1.
The 5/2 favourite Moving On finished second under Ben Dalton for Pat Lynch while Raise The Goblet finished a further eleven lengths back in third under Alan Crowe for Pat Hughes at 11/2.
Fitzgerald said afterwards: "I thought he would do that twelve months ago (last season) but he has been very disappointing.
"I had great things in mind for him. He is well handicapped over hurdles but he lost his way due to injury and other problems.
"He will go for a chase now at Galway in six weeks’ time."
