It paid to be prominent at Gowran this afternoon and Jim Bolger's Glor Tire (11/1) made most to land the Lord Bagenal Inn Carlow Handicap in the hands of Rory Cleary.
A maiden winner over course and distance on her previous start, the Teofilo filly got to the front after a furlong and stayed on well to beat See Me Through by three and a quarter lengths.
Stable representative Ger Flynn said: “Rory said he thought they were going no pace, so he decided to make it. She stayed really well here the last day and Rory wasn’t going to be caught up in traffic.
“She was loving it out in front and when the second horse came to him, he thought he was going to be in for a battle, but she stayed really well.
“She’s improving and hopefully it’s onwards and upwards for her.
“The ground was probably too soft for her the last day, but she handled that ground really well today.
“As the boss would say, small fish are sweet!”
