Await The Dawn best of Fermoy trio
Aidan O’Brien’s Await The Dawn made a belated seasonal debut at Cork today, when justifying favouritism to win the three runner Fermoy Race, moving jockey Johnny Murtagh into a share of second-place in the Jockeys’ Championship.
Last year’s Champion Jockey Murtagh, now on the 61 winner mark, five behind Pat Smullen but level with Fran Berry, had to sit tight on Await The Dawn as the winner reared up in the stalls before the ‘off’, but did eventually steer the son of Giant’s Causeway to a length and a quarter win over Zerashan
O’Brien was not present for the win.
