Willie Mullins was quickly into stride on New Year's Day as Fairyhouse-winner Aurora Vega (10/11f) brought up an across-the card double for the champion trainer after More Coko took the opener on Tramore's card.
Aurora Vega was found to be clinically abnormal after being pulled up at Wexford in October, but it was a very different story today.
She made all over the extended two-miles and travelled better than her main rivals Cast A Spell and Mongibello before the last.
She was untidy there, but Paul Townend drove her home by two and a-half lengths from the well-backed Mongibello (4/1 - 11/4).
"She at least put that run in Wexford behind her and looked like she’s back on an upward curve,” said Mullins.
“I’m very happy with how she jumped and how she handled the ground.
“I think there is the Solerina race here towards the end of the month and we’d be looking at that.
“I like when they show a liking for here because you can always look at the Grade 1 race here at Easter.”
Paddy Power trimmed Aurora Vega from 40/1 to 33/1 for the Mares' Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
