Asheerah battles to give Prendergast brace
Kevin Prendergast completed a quick double when Asheerah prevailed in a terrific finish to the fillies maiden at Limerick.
The Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned daughter of Shamardal travelled strongly into contention in the straight, under Declan McDonogh, but had to knuckle down in the final furlong.
4/5 favourite Dance Secretary who had pulled her way to the front in the early stages, proved a tough nut to crack and only gave way, by the narrowest of margins, as the pair hit the line.
"She's a much stronger filly this year. She's a good moving filly but coped with the ground well. I think she's improving," said McDonogh afterwards.
