Apache Outlaw repeated last year's success in the featured 21,000 euro handicap at Dundalk this afternoon leading home a remarkable one-two-three for trainer Ado McGuinness in the race. Catch The Paddy made the running in the seven-furlong contest but was grabbed inside the final furlong by Apache Outlaw and Ronan Whelan.
The 13/8 favourite was followed through by Current Option also in the Dooley Thoroughbreds colours, and held that rival at bay by a neck in the closing stages.
There was a three-and-a-half length gap back to their stablemate Dontspoilasale who kept on to take the third.
Apache Outlaw was recording his fourth course success, having scored over six furlongs here three weeks ago.
McGuinness said: "The other horse, Current Option, is a very good horse and he owes us nothing.
"Apache Outlaw is on the way up. The other horse's best days are behind him, but he is still well able to compete in good races.
"I think he (Apache Outlaw) is a smart horse and he is going to go on a break now. We might want another run if we want to go to the All-Weather Finals, but we will look at that type of a target for him.
"It will be Newcastle - more money in Newcastle!
"Ronnie is a top-class rider and he has been very lucky for me."
