The 2/1 favourite Ansaab (fifth winning favourite from six races) for Declan McDonogh and Kevin Prendergast kept on best to win the Finlay's For Volvo Handicap over 1m 2f from the Paul Deegan trained second favourite Sharalam at 100/30 back in second.
The winning son of Cape Cross won his maiden on the fourth time of asking at Dundalk in October before running a cracker to finish second to the progressive Sharestan in the Irish Lincolnshire over the course last month.
The 4yo gelding was ridden to challenge a furlong out and hit the front inside the final furlong.
He kept on best from there to beat Sharalam under Chris Hayes winning by three parts of a length at the line. Midnight Music who was the third choice for punters at 9/2, finished a further three and a half lengths back in third for Pat Smullen and Dermot Weld.
