Another one for New Approach
The feature race of the afternoon The Tattersalls Million Irish Champion Stakes was won by Jim Bolgers New Approach with Kevin Manning doing the steering for owner HRH Princess Haya of Jordan.
Manning settled his mount in 2nd and improved to lead entering the straight and under a strong drive by Manning managed to hold on by 1/2 length holding off the late challenge of Mark Johnston's Traffic Guard
Bolger and Manning recorded a Group 1 double this afternoon after winning the previous Group 1 on the card The Coolmore Fusaichi earlier this afternoon with Lush Lashes
Bolger said afterwards, "The previous time at Newmarket he was too keen on the day because we had to rush a lot of quick work into him. There wasn't really enough pace today and once again we probably over did the settling. He only did what he had to do and Kevin confirmed that he had bundles left in the tank. It was a nice easy race for him and he should come out of it well. He's entered in The Champion Stakes at Newmarket, The Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and The Breeders Cup Classic he'll probably run in two of them."
