It was something of a case of deja vu following on from the opening maiden at Dundalk as Lecale’s Approach also justified support to make a winning debut in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden. Whispering Royal was backed from 22/1 into 11/2 when taking the opening maiden and Lecale’s Approach also proved up the task at the first time of asking.
The Natalia Lupini-trained filly was clipped from 28/1 into 12/1 earlier in the day and was prominent throughout under Wayne Lordan in this mile event.
The daughter of New Approach was ridden to lead over a furlong out and held off the challenge of 11/10 favourite Sweetest Rose by a length. Moonlit Mist was a length and a quarter further back in third.
Lupini said, "She's a smart filly and we always thought something about her. She has a lovely temperament and she saves it all for the track, she is very laid-back at home.
"She got a lovely lead into the race and stayed on well, and is tough and genuine. Wayne said she kept finding for him.
"We have a lot of young horses and it is very satisfying for us bringing a young horse on to win their maiden or be competitive in their maidens.
"If they win maidens, and there is a nice offer for them, they will be on the market. She is owned locally and I would think she is going to be on the market. She's a nice filly."
