Sweet Annathea continued the fine recent spell of jockey Rory Cleary when landing the Michael Maher Building And Construction Services Handicap at Tipperary today for his trainer father Tom Cleary.
Trainer Cleary later reported “I was very hopeful coming here and she ran well on her last two starts but the draw didn't work to her advantage at Roscommon the last day. They went absolutely flat out today which suited her perfectly and the plan now is to go for a handicap at Galway. She needed to go up a few pounds to get into it so that race remains the plan.”
Cleary Jnr was steering his fifth winner in a fortnight, including the Listed Lenabane Stakes at Roscommon on Monday.
