Twin brothers steered Corporate Box to separate wins in Ireland in the past few days, with the Rodger Sweeney trained mare winning under Ger Fox last Sunday, before following up under Anthony Fox in the Book Online At www.limerickraces.ie Mares Handicap Hurdle at Limerick today.
Ger Fox had ridden the daughter of Witness Box to win at Tramore on Sunday but today rode Josephine Marcus which ran out, for his employer Noel Meade. Twin Anthony Fox did experience better fortune though, steering Corporate Box to a two and a quarter lengths win.
Sweeney later joked "I don't know which of them is the better rider now and we'll have to ask the women to know which was the better looking!
"She's a lady but when they're on-song it's hard to get to the end of them. We took our chance coming here today but Anthony's claim was a help. She'll have two weeks off now."
Reflecting on his son Coleman Sweeney's decision to retire from race-riding yesterday to take up a new position with IRIS, he added "we've had some proud moments and had great fun. He'll be a big loss to me but will still be around for schooling and advice. I'll continue with half a dozen horses on a smaller scale."
