Analyse That foils gamble
The opening Slaney Maiden Hurdle at Wexford today attracted a huge late plunge on the Charles Byrnes trained Milborough (12/1 – 7/2) but the gamble had to settle for third place behind 12/1 winner Analyse That
Analyse That, under Pat Mangan, battled well in the straight to eventually see off the challenge of Galianna by half a length
The gambled Milborough, found to be coughing after his run at Limerick as recently as 14 days ago, was a little unlucky in-running and only hit top gear on the run-in, staying on for a fast finishing third, three parts of a length behind the runner-up.
Afterwards winning trainer Sean Aherne stated “we have no real plans from here - to try to win a maiden hurdle was the plan with him. He has been consistent and we’ll find something over Christmas for him now.”
