American Money recorded a second career win when just holding on in a thrilling finish to the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at Naas this afternoon.
Trained by the father and son team of Eddie and Patrick Harty, the Westerner gelding was adding to a win at Punchestown around this time last year.
The 6/1 chance was sent to the front after two out by Conor Stone-Walsh put was driven right out to just hold off the late surge of Circus Act by a short head. Pride Of Place was a length and a half back in third with Junot completing the places in fourth.
Eddie Harty said, “He is what he is but he’s a good solid horse. He’ll probably go chasing at some stage. He jumps well and is made for it.
“He’s qualified for the final of the Full Circle Series at the Punchestown Festival. It’s worth a good few quid so that’s where we’ll target him.
“He’s won two races now and the owners are getting a great kick out of it. They are all vets or involved in the veterinary business in one way or another including my wife. They love him.”
