Alla impresses on debut
Alla Speranza got her racing career off to the best possible start when taking the Coolmore Rip Van Winkle Maiden under Rory Cleary.
The Sir Percy filly attracted some support (14/1-10/1), and stayed on far too well for evens favourite Hail inside the final furlong beating that rival by two and a quarter lengths. Authorization (20/1) caught the eye when staying on nicely on her debut to finish another length away in third.
There was a total Rule 4 deduction to all bets of 10 cent in the euro after three horses, Amiens Street (33/1), Pepparpot (10/1) and Nadia Naes (33/1) were all withdrawn after giving trouble at the start.
Cleary said, “She's been working well and doing everything right at home. Once I gave her a dig she took off and kept going all the way. Hopefully she will improve from that, and go on to better things.”
