All systems go for Prolific
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Connections of Prolific are looking forward to seeing the colt stepping up to six furlongs for the first time in the #80,000 Group Two TNT July Stakes on day two of Newmarket?s Ritz Club July Festival, Thursday, July 10.
The son of Compton Place put in his best performance to date when finishing third to South Central in the five-furlong Group Two Norfolk Stakes on June 19 at Royal Ascot, where he gave the impression that he would improve for the extra furlong.
A #52,000 breeze-up purchase at Doncaster in April, Prolific made a winning debut over five furlongs on good to firm ground at Newmarket in mid-May when racing clear of the field despite showing signs of greenness. On his next start, again over five furlongs, he found Danehill Destiny half a length too good at Windsor on good to soft ground.
Harry Herbert, racing manager for owners Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, said of the Richard Hannon-trained colt: "The TNT July Stakes is very much still the plan for Prolific. I?ve just spoken to Richard and he?s very happy with the horse, so it?s all systems go.
