Favourite backers got a result in the last at Dundalk as All About Alfie saw off Timjoe with the pair finishing clear.
All About Alfie was returned at 11/4 and gave jockey Seamie Heffernan a 55/1 double on the evening after his earlier success on Cardinal Palace (14/1).
Thomas Foley’s five-year-old gelding was always in the vanguard of this contest and worked his way to the front over two furlongs out. Although pressed by Timjoe, he found more and won by a length and a half from his rival at 5/1 (from 7s in the ring). Well Insured ran on for third at 16/1 a further three lengths back.
“He did it well. He’s probably a little bit better going righthanded. He did it well in Tipperary so we thought we would get away with it on this surface with it being a little bit faster,” Thomas Foley said.
“We don’t mind going back on grass now with a little bit of cut. If the handicapper is not too tough on him we’ll look for another one.”
