Alakhan lands Gowran maiden for Oxx/Kinane
The opening Gowran Park Golf & Leisure Maiden at Gowran Park today was won by the John Oxx trained Alakhan under Mick Kinane.
The son of Dalakhani raced prominently throughout before moving through to lead early in the straight, eventually running out the length and a quarter winner over Ajsaam
Afterwards Oxx revealed “Alakhan works really well at home and if I was a gambling man, I would have lost my shirt on him on previous runs!”
He added “Alakhan really only gets seven furlongs or a mile and takes after his dam's pedigree (Alte Kunst, by Royal Academy) in that respect. Alakhan likes fast ground and will probably go for a handicap next, maybe at Dundalk.”
