Akito landed a nice touch for connections when claiming the O'Neill's Bar Maiden Hurdle at Tramore.
Shay Barry's charge was backed from 8/1 this morning and went to post a 7/2 shot.
He tracked 2/1 favourite Killiney Court in the two mile contest before hitting the front on the long run to the second last.
The French-bred powered clear before the last to record a seven-length success.
"He is a lovely horse but he has been a little bit disappointing," said Barry.
"I thought he would have won before now. The ground might have made the difference and it's onwards on upwards from here."
