The Aga Khan's well related Hasimiyya gained an important winning bracket at Dundalk today when winning the www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap (div 2) for trainer Dermot Weld and jockey Declan McDonogh.
The daughter of Shamardal is out of a half-sister to the similarly owned and trained Derby winner Harzand and today got off the mark for the first time from a rating of 57 when beating gambled Mulzamm (9/1 — 4/1 on track) by two lengths.
Afterwards McDonogh said “she had a couple of okay runs during the summer and today went to plan.
“They went good and hard and I just sat back right out of the speed. I let it develop in front of me and that gave her confidence all the way up the straight. She won nicely.
“She's related to Harzand so it's very important to get the bracket obviously.
“She has developed well for her little break and has done well physically. It was a good job by the boss to get her here in good shape and get a very important win for her.”
