Admiral in command
Two Aidan O'Brien trained newcomers dominated the betting for the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Gowran today, which eventually went to O'Brien's Lord High Admiral
Jockey bookings apparently suggested Mark Twain under Seamie Heffernan was the stable first-string, and started 9/4 favourite, ahead of Lord High Admiral, under Sean Levey, well backed at 5/2.
However, the eventual winner Lord High Admiral made virtually all, and although strongly pressed from two furlongs out, stayed on well for a neck and head win over Bobbyscot and Anaverna with Mark Twain finishing sixth.
O'Brien was absent but winning jockey Levey did say "that is my first winner of the season and we had been hoping for a good run from Lord High Admiral, as he looks like being a nice horse."
