‘Shark’ Hanlon’s horses are definitely hitting form and he landed the featured Entegro Handicap Chase with A Mere Bagatelle
Being 4lb out of the handicap didn’t deter supporters of the 8/1 winner (from 20s this morning) and he made all under Simon Torrens.
The race was in the bag coming to the last but it nearly went all wrong there when he clouted the fence and Torrens almost went out the side door, but the jockey regained his balance and the six-year-old went on to beat Broken Ice by an eased-down seven lengths.
“Apart from the last he jumped brilliant," said Hanlon.
“Everyone told me he wanted soft ground and we ran him all winter. I rang the owner six weeks ago and told him I have the horse in and he said are you mad!
“We said we’d give him one go on goodish ground and if it don’t work we’ll let him back out.
“He’ll be tipping around now for the summer and he could go for something like the Galway Blazers. He’ll stay galloping all day.”
