It's well-documented that the progeny of Orpen generally go well in deep ground and with Pat Flynn's runners showing good form lately Louisville Lip s 7/1 success in the RSM Farrell Grant Sparks Handicap shouldn't have come as any surprise to anyone as Fran Berry doubled his score on the evening, this time in the J P McManus silks at Leopardstown.
Supplying Flynn with his fourth winner in little over a week, Louisville Lip was delivered with perfect timing from off the pace by Berry (half an hour previously successful on Backbench Blues to account for Beau Michael by two and a quarter lengths.
Frank Berry, the McManus racing manager and father of the winning rider, said: "He's been tipping away over hurdles but he's been a bit disappointing.
"He'll go back over hurdles somewhere and we'll tip away with him over the summer.
"Fran said he loved the ground and he did it nicely."
Louisville Lip was bred by Kilfrush Stud and of course that famous County Limerick farm has recently been in the news courtesy of Memphis Tennesse and Global Village. (GC & EM)
