With any luck there are many huge days ahead in Gordon Elliott's training career. He won't forget Troytown day 2016 in a hurry though as a 15,724/1 five-timer was completed for his Cullentra House Stables by the win of Jury Duty in the Grade B Proudstown Handicap Hurdle at Navan.
Jack Kennedy rode this 5/1 joint favourite, and he'd set the ball rolling earlier for the Elliott team on Des Sharkey's Brelade in the first.
Gigginstown House Stud and Bryan Cooper continued the unbelievable momentum then for the County Meath yard, with victories for Death Duty Bull Ride and Empire Of Dirt in the featured Troytown Chase.
The sweet-travelling Jury Duty asserted from the second last flight. He came up out of Kennedy's hands at the last before sauntering home a length and three parts and a length and a half to the good from Scoir Mear and the staying-on The Crafty Butcher
"He'd a good run (last time) at Punchestown (Festival) when he got there a bit too soon. He travelled very well and it's worked out grand," remarked Elliott.
"He's owned by a great bunch of lads who are near me and all went to school together. He could go for something like the Pertemps Qualifier.
"That's the first time I have had five winners on the one card, and it's been a great day."
