The Andy Oliver trained newcomer Suzette De Bavay sprang a 33/1 (83/1 on the Tote) surprise in the last at Naas this evening, the Irish Stallion Farm EBF Fillies Maiden over a mile.
Ridden by Chris Hayes, the bay 3yo daughter of Whipper settled well back in the field early on before staying on best on the stands' side to hit the front close home, going on to score by three parts of a length at the line.
The Willie McCreery trained 9/4 favourite, Susiescot had to settle for second under Leigh Roche while Maid To Master was a further length back in third under Fran Berry for Jessica Harrington at 9/1.
The winner is a half-sister to Perfect Polly, who won four races. She won her maiden at the Curragh in August of 2007 for Andy Oliver before winning two for Jeremy Noseda (including a Listed contest at Haydock) and one for James Ryan, the Listed Abergwaun Stakes at Tipperary.
She is also a half-sister to Beth who won her maiden for Oliver at Sligo back in August of 2008.
Oliver said afterwards: "I'm obviously delighted. The owners, breeders are lovely people.
"She is a half-sister to a good filly I had a few years ago called Perfect Polly. The owners have been very patient. I always thought a bit of her but she was just took a bit of time.
"Chris gave her a great patient ride and she is still a bit green. We will see how she comes out of this and go from there."
