His winner half-an-hour previous, Bubbly Bellini may have been of the expected variety, being as he was, the 7/4 favourite, and despite a starting price of 10/1, a success for A Few Dollars More was foreseen by his trainer, Andy Slattery, in the Mallow Summer BBQ July 10th Handicap at Cork.
"I was expecting a big run today. I thought he had a good chance and he'll run away in those sprints once the ground is a little soft," said Slattery after the short head victory over Ishebayorgrey Of course Slattery and McDonogh have teamed up for many a win with the likes of An Saighdiur and Sharjah.
There was just a head and half a length back to Anonymous Lady and Captain Power in third and fourth.
"He had three runs at Dundalk but got a bit jarred and needs a bit of ease," Slattery further explained.
"He could be a horse for the Rockingham from bottom weight."
The winning owner, Kevin Walsh, is based near Cashel, and he also bred the winner. That fellow's half sister, Redressthebalance won a Californian Oaks.
