Gary Carroll topped off the card at Naas with a win aboard Empress Alma (8s into 11/2) for Gavin Cromwell in the Care At Home Services Handicap. The Kildare jockey was completing a double on the afternoon, at odds in excess of 265/1.
Earlier a winner on 40/1 chance Shiota for one of his closest allies, Joe Murphy, Carroll powered Empress Alma to the front well inside the final furlong to account for pace-setter Simple Endeavour by a length and a quarter.
“It worked out well. I'd say she's a filly that will end up going further," said Carroll.
“She's a good sized filly and I think she'll improve again going a mile-and-a-half. Hopefully she can step forward from that and win again.
“She had a nice run on her first run in a handicap and I'd say she needed that and improved for it.”
