After his win here on Tuesday night over an extended mile, One Cool Poet successfully stepped up to twelve furlongs to land the Open Gate Pure Brew Handicap at Galway.
Billy Lee was again in the plate for owners the DRFG Partnership and trainer Matthew Smith.
Lee judged it to perfection on the Urban Poet gelding this time too. He may not be easy to win with elsewhere but his record at Ballybrit is now ‘7320211.’
One Cool Poet prevailed by a length and a half and a length and a quarter from Faynetta and Lusis Naturea
The winner came from off the pace after being slowly into stride.
"He is brilliant; he couldn't win for a year and then wins twice in the week, winning at a mile and back up to 1m4f," said Smith.
"I knew he would be well up to running again as he ran one day after another last year and was placed on both runs and he could run again on Sunday, but unless Billy (Lee) can ride him over hurdles!
"He's the sort of horse who thrives on racing and I'll have a chat to Ollie (Ryan, owner) and make a decision about Sunday."
