188/1 Double for Michael Fitzgerald
He hadn't had a winner since November but after the 20/1 success of Cottage Lady Preswell Lad doubled-up for Michael Fitzgerald half-an-hour later in the Tramore Racecourse Supporters Club Handicap Hurdle.
Ridden out the back by Emmet Mullins, this previously frustrating sort got himself off the rail down the back straight, making rapid headway, he was asked for his effort in second from before two out and he fended off No More Prisoners by a neck on the run-in.
Fitzgerald, obviously delighted with his 188/1 brace, said: "That is not the way to ride Tramore but we got away with it. This fellow has loads of ability but he has just been very frustrating. The better ground was a help." The bumper winner was sporting blinkers for the second time here. (EM)
