The Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund (C & G) Maiden was noteworthy principally for the failed gamble on the Ballydoyle front-runner Rain God (6/1 this morning into 7/4, finished 6th) but it produced a good winner, Mooqtar scoring at the first time of asking for Kevin Prendergast and Declan McDonogh.
A son of the top-class American runner, Invasor, out of a mare that produced a host of talented performers for Prendergast in the past such as Shimah and Haatef, this 7/1 shot was never too far away, he led over furlong out and he went on to beat his fellow Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned opponent, Mouteab by three and a half lengths.
Prendergast said: "I think that's one of the stallion's first winners.
"He's in the Beresford. I'll talk to the boss but I think that'll be his next mission.
"He's a nice horse and he's from a good family." (GC & EM)
