Reports in which Mezajy (IRE) was mentioned
Astronomer impressive in Bellewstown feature
"He's done it nicely and improved plenty for the step up in trip. He only does what he has to but is a nice stayer," said championship leading jockey Donnacha O'Brien after winning the featured Thatch Bar And Restaurant Handicap at Bellewstown aboard Astronomer (6/4 favourite). Wed 29th AugMezajy pleases Hogan and "the boys"
Denis Hogan often combines with success in the training and riding role and he did it again with 14/1 shot Mezajy in the Byrne Marquees Handicap Hurdle at Bellewstown. Thu 31st AugReview kilbeggan 21st Jul
Phil's Magic (7-2 favourite) came out on top in a pulsating renewal of the Midlands National Handicap Chase at KilbegganFri 21st Jul
Deserved win for Hogan's Mezajy
In the training and riding role Denis Hogan struck courtesy of the JRM Racing Syndicate-owned Mezajy in the Kilbeggan Irish Whiskey Handicap Hurdle. Fri 21st JulRathnaleen an easy winner for Byrne

yesterday morning I wasn't sure I had picked the right one (to ride), because the other horse (Nulife) has ability, but it's hard to get it out of him. He (Nulife) won here before and we had to come here as he needs to go left-handed. the winner loves this ground, he rattles off it and hasn't had it since Bellewstown last summer. It's great for connections (JRM Racing Syndicate), and they have another runner in the next.

He did it well. He had good form on good ground and the ground suited him lovely. He ran a good race in Kilbeggan on that ground. Galway had gone too bad for him but, Galway being Galway, everyone wanted to run. . He was probably overpriced today, I couldn't believe it. I told the boys I would have been happy if he was half the price (of 14/1). He'll be entered in Listowel but he'll only go there if it is good. . John Mahon in the syndicate is a Longford man based in New York. He is represented by his son John today.

I was quietly fancying him. He just had so many goes but without the blinds he was running on and off the bridle,. He loves it there in front. He came up for me at the last and when Davy Russell (on Zanjabeel) is breathing down your neck it's fairly scary. You either go long or you give up. I thought I was nearly nicked on the line but it's brilliant. The lads have been patient and John Mahon is a great owner. He's a Longford man who is based in New York. Possibly he'll go for the handicap hurdle on the Monday night at Galway, although I have three or four for it now. It's great he's got his head in front as he deserved it.
