Shelford sees it out best for Oxx & Murtagh

Landmark winner for Bunyan
Associated with John Oxx, Dermot Weld and Ken Condon in his time, as well as a stint in Japan and son of former trainer, the late Arthur, Darren Bunyan got off the mark in the training ranks courtesy of the nicely supported Grey Danube (16s earlier in the day into 7s, admittedly Further Proof, the original favourite was a non-runner, injured in transit) in thetote.com Handicap under Leigh Roche at Dundalk. Ballot is green & raw but up to the task
Put forward as the solution to the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund (C & G) Maiden by the Racing Post's Johnny Ward, Beat The Ballot was put in as a 20/1 chance this morning before being supported into half those odds on track. The Big Bad Bob gelding came home best under Shane Foley to prevail. Fri 09th Dec
After race at Dundalk Thu, 12th Jul, 2012 (1st)
It worked out perfectly for the horse as he wants cover and has a turn of foot. I'm very disappointed it has taken this long for him to win. He has to have good ground. I've had a very lean spell as I didn't have winter horses. I have 12 horses riding out which is down from 40/45 four to five years ago. Like a lot of other people its about keeping your head above the water. We lack a graded horse at the minute which every yard needs. Hopefully one of the younger horses will pick up the baton.
