Permission was given for William Dewhirst (IRE) to wear a red hood to post, for Boafo Boy (GB) to be mounted on the chute and for HE’S AN ANGEL to go early to post.

Andrew Breslin, the rider of William Dewhirst (IRE), drawn 5, was slow to remove the blindfold, resulting in his horse being slowly away.

Hart’s explanation that the blindfold took two attempts to remove it was noted.

An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong when Bonito Cavalo (GB), placed second, ridden by Paul Mulrennan interfered with Pockley (GB), placed third, ridden by Jonny Peate.

The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Bonito Cavalo (GB)’s placing as in edging left, Bonito Cavalo (GB) had moved Pockley (GB) off its intended line before bumping the gelding, causing it to lose both momentum and distance, before keeping on to be beaten a nose at the line; the Stewards further considered that Mulrennan had struck Pockley (GB) once over the nose with his whip, which had also contributed to the interference.

They therefore revised the placings as follows: First: Sibyl Charm (IRE); Second: Pockley (GB); Third: Bonito Cavalo (GB); Fourth: Boafo Boy (GB).

Mulrennan was cautioned for careless riding as he made a misjudgment when edging left-handed into a gap, moving Pockley (GB) slightly off its intended line before giving the gelding a bump.

The Stewards considered that Mulrennan striking Pockley (GB) once over the nose with his whip was accidental.

Following the race, Billy Loughnane reported that Broken Spear (GB), unplaced, was slowly away.
