That's great. Good horses change seasons. Colm was brilliant on him. He said the longer he sat on him he was able to fill him up and the better he felt. He said he really wanted it today. I thought he was beat to be honest and nearly turned around and walked away a furlong-and-a-half out thinking 'he should have won'. The cheekpieces (second time fitted) helped as he's getting cute in his old age. He might get another run before Champions Weekend where we'll aim for the Boomerang Stakes again. It depends where we get a bit of ease.

I always thought he was going to be a better horse this year. He's grown and has huge depth to him. He'll stick to in and around a mile and will improve from that. He could go for the Prix du Muguet (Group 2 in Saint-Cloud) or the Lockinge. We'll see how he is after this.

That was good, he was impressive. Chris said the other horses were getting in his way three furlongs out. I thought it was a big ask for him on his second run but I was still confident he'd run well, I didn't think he would do that. He didn't mind the ground and he will be better on better ground. We were ready to run him last season but just weren't happy with him. We gelded him and within a week he was a different horse, so much more straightforward, so we couldn't regret doing it. The Hyland's sold him (after he won at Dundalk) but they are still good clients of mine and have Srucahan to run this season. They still have the dam at home and two full-sisters and this fellow has done a lot for the family. I'll chat to the owner (Robert Ng) now, he is a new owner and I'm delighted for him. I don't know where he will go next but we always thought a bit of him and aiming high I think he could be a Jersey Stakes horse. He will stay a mile as well.

We think he is smart. We were so disappointed that it was off last week as he has always shown plenty. It's obviously a good mare (Giveupyeraulsins) the Hyland's (winning owners who are from Monasterevin) have at home. He is a half-brother to Sruchan (won his last three, the latest at the Curragh on Sunday) and while he is a good handicapper this fellow is a proper horse. He will have learned a lot from that.
